Am sure we all heard about this famous integrated amp
Mission Cyrus One, made in the 80s in the UK
budget amp with superb soundstage
i have tried the Cyrus II and Cyrus III (purchased on behalf of Boss Chan/KL) and the phono stage is definitely worth every cent
and now i have found the Mission Cyrus One, a very care-for unit from a collector
AWESOME!!!
oxide is very common for the casing (non plastic version)
a coat of paint has been applied to bring back the original look
the RCA connectors and speakers posts are still well intact (no sign of oxide)
sadly the ground tightener is missing but a compatible screw will do the same job
super solid iron cast casing
this shoe box size amp easily weight 7-8kg
the inner beauty after being naked
not the gold caps but original capacitors
date stated 1089. am not sure if is meant for Oct1989
if so this guy is 25 years old
look at this huge toroid donuts transformer
it is stated Made in Scotland. brilliant isn't it?!
and here the main reason why i bought this amp
it is the famous phono stage using the xx5534 and xx5532 chips
(something that i read about but don't understand the electronic circuits)
note the circuit board the "circle", next to it printed "External DC Power Supply 40v DC". For Cyrus TWO & THREE, i recall there is an connector for external PSX (aka PSU)
with this i believe the engineer probably has planned for the next version when designed the circuit board for ONE. Clever Henry Azma

cant wait to test out this amp!
hello my friend, i was thinking of buying this amp, as an improvement to a marantz pm7000{ which also was phono stage}. I am not sure if it would be an upgrade or not. I have B&W 601 s2 as speakers. How does cyrus one compare to newer speakers?
ReplyDeleteHi friend sorry don't think I am in the position to answer you as never tried marantz before. But no harm to give it a try to switch to uk amp. Cheers
