Thorens TD125MK1

31/Mar/2014

mounted Rega RB300

overall alignment done

given the acrylic base is fixed to the plinth so the adjustment to the 3 suspension springs was really a pain

took me almost 2hour to align the chassis to level with the plinth

gosh!

tested and i would say 99.95% ready... however the VTA is not right

i need a spacer. maybe 2-4mm to raise the arm higher. that would be perfect!

the cartridge is Shure M95ED

(FYI: you will never go wrong with this cartridge for the best of 80s retro music)

another imperfection is one of the screw mounting hole. it is about 2mm away from the chassis

so i give the last screw hole a missed to test drive the unit

 overall great satisfaction

tested with both speeds, sound perfect to my ears

the aesthetic is simply gorgeous and will goes well with all furniture

looks high-end too ;-)

thks for reading

with this the refurbishment of the TD125Mk1 project is finally over!!!

26/Mar/2014

Finally. took me about a year to finish this project

the last post was back in April2013

i will not give the excuse of busy or no time

lazy is the word!

the acrylic armboard is ready for Rega300

the mounting hole is 25m diameter and away from spindle hole 222m

from the "back side"

top view

just last weekend sent to Adrian to get the speed adjusted

i am lucky to get the neon strobe light replace (from Zenn, he has some parts left over from a dismantle unit) so it will shine on the strobe disc and reflect the speed light on the window

originally this unit the inner platter came without the stobe plate (ref to the pic in my earlier posting) but found one at Ah Koon and cost me $90

so retro looking

i have a Rega RB300 ready to complete the project

stay tuned!
